Program

Buenos Aires BuildingsWith the Buenos Aires, Argentina Global Institute at Universidad Austral, you'll be part of an inclusive cultural environment and learn about the “porteños” (people from Buenos Aires) daily life. You'll get outside the classroom and learn from the vibrant neighborhoods, museums, food, and tango of this eclectic City!

Additional opportunities:
INTERNSHIPS - Students can participate in an internship in a variety of professional fields for credit. The internship is accompanied by a course called Learning through Internships.
**Note: you must have at least 4 semesters of Spanish language to participate.

Courses and Credits

Students at the Buenos Aires Global institute are recommended to take between 15-18 academic credits for the semester. Classes are held at the downtown campus of Universidad Austral, a top-ranking Argentinian institution. This program offers a range of subjects (business, history, film, political science, communications, etc.) taught in English.

As this program is in a non-English language speaking country, Merrimack participants are required to take a language course during their semester abroad.

For course listing and descriptions, scroll down to CHOOSE YOUR TERM. To see what these courses have been approved as, click here: MERRIMACK COURSE EQUIVALENCIES. Please note that course availability is subject to change.

COURSE APPROVAL PROCESS:If you would like to get a course approved, print off the form NEW GEO Course approval form.pdf. Take the completed form and syllabus to the appropriate department chair. If you do not access your syllabus on the above site, please request a syllabus from Njideka Ofoleta at nofoleta@capa.org. Make sure that you return that course approval form and syllabus to the GEO.

TRANSFERRING OF CREDITS: All credits taken abroad come back as transfer credits. Grades will be reflected on the transcript, but not figured into the student's cumulative GPA. Students must earn a 'C' or above for credits to transfer to Merrimack. Please note carefully that most of the courses taken abroad are only 3-credits rather than 4 as at Merrimack.

Housing

HOMESTAY: Homestays are required for this program. They are within commuting distance to class and provide an excellent opportunity for cultural immersion.
MEALS: Breakfast and dinner are provided in the homestay.
